Joshua Butts continues to extend his love for improv across the world. Before he founded KFC, he was in various ensembles at The Second City in Chicago. In 2018, he was a writer and actor for the Jonders’ Talk Show Experience, a late night comedy show. As a graduate of The Second City and iO program, his inspired alumni are Steve Carrell and Tina Fey. When he isn’t laughing on stage, you can find him laughing at his kanji studies in his local café. His goal is to bring a diverse community together through love and laughter.

Howell Parry first stepped foot on stage during various school productions, even getting the lead in a musical, then an extended run playing Wishee Washee in the pantomime Aladdin with a local theatre group in his hometown in Wales. He got his first taste of improv attending classes for a year with Comedysportz Manchester. Recently, he slapped on greasepaint and a red nose and studied clowning in Hyogo. You might find him crooning Japanese enka at karaoke,  watching crazy films or eating his favourite Japanese food, okonomiyaki.

Hiroshi Ogura has been performing in various open mics over the past three decades as a singer-guitarist. He has also been participating in jam sessions for jazz and bluegrass, two genres in which improvisation is essential. He is equally fluent in Japanese, English, and Spanish-and in all of them, he is a hopeless smartass.

Nyx Jean has been in love with making people laugh since she was in diapers. She’s not a stranger to the stage, as she’s done a variety of performances between grade school and university. She currently lives in Kyoto, where she enjoys making TikToks, and coloring, when she’s not teaching English.

Neil has limited stage experience, his only stage acting being a high school performance of The Wizard of Oz, but you may have seen his poorly acted but dramatic death in a zombie mocumentary student film or him dancing in a modern dance show on a ship at sea over the Pacific!

Steven Thompson’s first performance was as a field mouse in Little Bunny Foo Foo at age 7. He later performed magic shows for kids in his Michigan neighborhood. In high school Debate Club and university theater, he honed his skills, starring in Molière’s Le Malade Imaginaire. Since moving to Osaka in 1997, Steven has applied his theater and humor skills in labor negotiations with the Osaka and Wakayama governments. He now shares his love of Improv with students at his English school, Steven’s English.

Zoe loved to play non-scripted plays with her friends as a kid. Her first encounter with improv was back in 2015 when a professional actress came to teach in Japan. It was an intense workshop using improv to hone acting skills whereas the final performance was a scripted one. She found the workshop interesting, inspiring while at the same time challenging, that's where she started to develop interest in improv. After that she had participated in various forms of improv shows. She hopes now to take the spirit of improv to her workplace.
